We're thrilled to welcome Brienna Hall of Shrine Jewelry to the CAFAC jewelry studio for two weekend intensive workshops!

Uncover the timeless craft of sand casting in this engaging two-day workshop! Explore its historical roots of sand casting and its contemporary uses as you create a minimum of two pieces. This ancient technique does not require a burnout kiln and can be introduced to your jewelry studio without a large financial investment.

Begin with a basic ring to grasp essential techniques, then unleash your creativity on a personal project. You'll learn the basics of casting into a cope and drag (2-part) mold using red clay, recipes to make your own clay, how to sand cast horizontally and vertically, how to modify flasks, and also how to make 3-part molds. You're welcome to bring your own shaped models to cast or choose from our selection of found objects. Leave with a thorough understanding of sand casting's versatility for home studios. Perfect for both beginners and experienced jewelers seeking to refine their craft!

$360 (includes all materials)  |  2-day intensive
Open to ages 16 and up.

Nestled along the rugged coastline of Mendocino, California, Brienna Hall is the creative force behind Shrine Jewelry. Operating her full-time jewelry business, Brienna also shares her expertise through workshops across northern California. With a keen eye for detail, she empowers her students to explore diverse techniques. Brienna's own creations often blend textile methods with metalwork and embrace the unique character of small-scale sand casting. Her designs fuse organic elements with modern aesthetics, imbued with hints of historical narrative. At the core of Shrine Jewelry lies the belief that each individual is a shrine deserving of meaningful adornment. Brienna encourages wearers to reflect on the intention behind their adornments, cherishing the quality and energy infused into each handmade piece.
